During this COVID-19 coronavirus disease pandemic, many front-line care and medical staff have had to wear face masks for long periods which has caused some serious problems and discomfort for those experiencing the new working conditions. Workers have found that facial skin under masks has become damaged which can lead to a range of skin conditions including dermatitis - those who wear masks for work now have to take better care of their skin than ever before:

Some of the consequences of masks-wearing can be :

  • Irritant contact dermatitis due to the constant friction over areas such as the bridge of the nose or the line of the jaw.

  • Allergic contact dermatitis which can lead to redness and sore skin

  • Flare-ups and clogged pores due to the increased humidity under the close fitting masks which can trap oil and sebum released from skin pores

  • Perioral dermatitis inflammatory rash on the skin around the mouth.

Leaping Fish's Face Mask Balm has been produced in response to this new situation of Covid 19 where many front-line workers in the health and care sectors as well as individuals are having to wear face masks for long periods of time. We have blended premium oils and waxes to help form a barrier on the skin with a light mix of essential oils to help keep the skin clean and healthy where the mask is in contact with the skin. The balm will help prevent face masks causing dryness, bruises, and scrapes from various mask textiles and tight fitting edges where they rub on the skin. The balm will provide a fine layer of waxes and oils on the skin helping to reduce the friction and chafing from the mask, and the essential oils of Clary Sage, Geranium and Rosemary will help to keep the mask feeling fresh and hygienic, with the Clary Sage's anti-bacterial qualities helping to keep skin clean.

  • As this balm is intended for use on facial skin the quantities of essential oils are reduced , and care should be taken to avoid sensitive areas around the eyes. The balm also contains vitamin E, an anti-oxidant, and cocoa butter which forms a protective barrier over skin to hold in moisture - cocoa butter also contains small amounts of vitamins E and K for skin health.

  • Face Mask Balm can simply be washed off with soap and water when the mask is not required, and will wash out of reusable masks easily.

  • This is not a medical product - medical advice should be sought for treatment of skin conditions.

Leaping Fish Face Mask Balm  contains: Brassica Campestris Oleifera, Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Glycerine, Oils of Geranium, Clary Sage and Rosemary.
